Ed was born on 16 October 1924 in Newburgh, NY. He was one of 7
children. In WW II Ed's family had 5 family members in the service.
Two were Navy pilots, one Marine pilot, an 82nd Airborne Ranger, and one
sister in the WACS. The other two were in the defense industries.

Activities after HS/College:
HS
Graduation in January, 1943. Attended Syracuse University from January ‘43 - August ‘43, then entered
the V-5
Cadet Program at Chapel Hill, UNC, - Primary training at Bunker Hill, Ind. Pensacola
fields for remainder of training. Commissioned April 14, 1945, Melbourne,
FL for operational in F6F’s, formed combat team and reported to VBF-82 at
Alameda CA in Aug. ‘45. I made USN and stayed with my squadron (Charbonnet wingman)
until the summer of 1947, when I resigned my commission and left the Navy.
Summary of Life/Career after Squadron Days:
I returned to Syracuse University - The NYS College of Forestry and graduated
in 1950. I was in the inactive Naval Reserve for many years. Joined wood box
company - General Box headquartered in Chicago. Was in R&D in Lab, manager
of lab then elected sales job in Co. in 1960 for Denville, NJ plant. Sold
pkg. till 1970 and was made manager of the corrugated box plant in Farmingdale, L.I.,
N.Y. I later elected to transfer back to wood box division.
in 1974
I transferred to Denville and was
made manager in 1976. I stayed in that job until I retired at 60 years of
age in l985.
Since then have enjoyed retirement by
traveling, mostly to visit
my son and daughter in Billings, MT for son Carl and family and Colchester,
VT to see my daughter and grandson. I enjoy golf and fly fishing and until 10
yrs. ago flew a 1948 Aeronca Champion airplane, obtaining a soaring license to
practice that art. I spent a lifetime in building and flying model aircraft of
all types; the most recent years in Radio Control of these craft.
